Hospice Care Week Continues
Hospice Care Week gives us an excuse to go out and talk about the extraordinary work that hospices do at the heart of their communities. It is also an opportunity to inspire action – inviting supporters to get involved by volunteering, donating and showing they care on social media. This year's theme is 'Heart my hospice'.
We supported Hospice UK all week by playing yellow themed games!
Here are some of the highlights!
Hook a duck
Hoop a pineapple
Finally… Friday called for sweet treats and cakes!
While it’s all good fun and games it is important to remember why we are doing this…
Hospice care improves the lives of people who have a life-limiting or terminal illness. It helps them to live as actively as they can to the end of their lives, however long that may be. It not only takes care of people’s physical needs, but looks after their emotional, spiritual and social needs as well.
Hospice care also supports carers, family members and close friends, both during a person’s illness and during bereavement. You may also hear it called palliative care.
It is their mission to improve everyone’s experience of death, dying and bereavement and to progress how adults and children in the UK are cared for at the end of their life. By supporting hospice professionals, they help care providers to deliver the highest quality of care to people with these life-limiting or terminal conditions and their families.
