Hercules Patient Repositioner

OSKA Hercules Patient Repositioner moves your patient back up the bed at the touch of a button.
When the head of bed (HOB) is elevated, patients slide down the bed, increasing pressure on the sacrum, ITs & heels, leading to an increased risk of pressure ulcer development.
For ventilated patients in ICU, the HOB must remain elevated, making moving them back up the bed virtually impossible. For patients to be quickly & carefully repositioned, the HOB elevation must be lowered to a min. of 30° then returned to the upright position so as not to compromise airway.
For ‘no-touch’ patients, those with delirium, those with stable spinal cord injuries, or heavier/bariatric patients, repositioning back up the bed is also challenging, requiring four or more nurses taking up to thirty minutes1. Despite the support that staff in Critical Care get with 1-2-1 patient care & additional support staff to help with such tasks, it does not eliminate the risk of injury caused by this manual process.
The ongoing requirement to regularly reposition these dependent patients & move them back up the bed is one of the biggest causes of strain, physical stress & injury to nursing staff & care givers.

Efficiency Gains*
Reduced staff input & time required for repositioning Eliminates many of the recognised ‘barriers’ for not moving patients Saves 1.5hr+ per nurse per day** Timely delivery of care – no need to wait for additional staff to reposition patient Simple 10-second ‘one-button-one-nurse’ operation

*Critical Care Unit, NHS Acute Hospital, England
**On average, nurses move patients back up the bed approx. 10 times per shift, each time taking 7-10 mins. Across a 12 hour shift this amounts to between 70-100 mins.
Eliminate back & other MSK injuries*
100% elimination of nursing back injuries Eliminates MSK injuries to hands, wrists, elbows & other joints 90% reduction in reported staff physical workload / tiredness / soreness Suitable for patients up to 340kg / 53.5st

*Critical Care Unit, NHS Acute Hospital, England
Improved patient care*
