Welded seams in challenging environments

Equipment in care environments undergo extensive use and need to withstand extreme wear and tear while preventing the risk of bacteria and infections from spreading.

The challenge in care facilities is to provide equipment which caters for the residents needs as well as working towards the prevention of spreading infections. When it comes to choosing a mattress there is already so much to consider to ensure that it meets the pressure relieving requirements of the resident as well as providing ultimate comfort but what about infection control?

When choosing mattresses, select ones with welded seams. Welded seams are when two pieces of material are fused together by applying heat and pressure. This means they are sealed all the way around with no gaps so they provide an impenetrable barrier to viruses and bacteria as well as eliminating the risk of ingress. The welded seams are incredibly tough and durable so they can withstand constant use without becoming compromised.

The OSKA V-GUARD Technology Covers all have indestructable welded seams. They aid with pressure relief by reducing friction and dispersing moisture, both of which are major contributing factors to the formation of pressure ulcers. The triple layered fabric is ingress proof, can withstand the use of cleaning products with up to 10,000ppm of active chlorine and can be washed at 95°C and tumble dried.
