Dabir® Pressure Care Plus™ Surface
The well-documented lengthy wait times in the Emergency Department(1) when combined with overstretched healthcare professionals due to a lack of staffing, leads to a greater risk of hospital acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs) incidence(2). Risk factors for HAPUs developing or worsening in ED patients include:
Limited/reduced mobility • Sensory impairment • Compromised nutritional status • Frailty of old age • Those with incontinence/at risk of moisture on the skin • Pre-existing pressure damage • Other co-morbidities or mechanical forces
When exposed to the cumulative effects of high pressure, patients with one or more of these risk factors are more likely to experience negative patient outcomes.

Enhanced tissue perfusion
The Dabir surface assists in PU prevention for patients receiving emergency care by supporting an increase in blood flow to the skin & enhancing tissue perfusion. Dabir’s low-profile surface is comprised of multiple rows of geometric air-filled nodes which inflate/deflate alternately to assist in the prevention of tissue damage, provide pressure offloading, & support tissue perfusion.
The low-noise controller inflates the air-filled nodes to less than 1" to assist in offloading the patient’s vulnerable areas. Designed to maintain patient stability, this dynamic therapy seamlessly integrates into clinical work-flows.
Increases skin blood flow
Lengthy ED(1) waits without PU prevention often expose bony prominences and vulnerable areas to tissue damage, the cumulative effects of ischemia, friction, and shear. These high-risk factors contribute significantly to PU development. Dabir’s dynamic alternating pressure surface has been shown to assist in an increase in skin blood flow (SBF) whilst supporting a reduction in a patient’s pressure damage risk.
